OUR PHILOSOPHY

AKDesigns, LLC. works alongside you by listening and learning about your ideas, lifestyle, dreams and needs. It is this foundation of information that AKDesigns, LLC. uses to create a vision that blends the latest trends in interior design with styles that are timeless. It is important to be creative and decorate with what you feel comfortable, not just what the trend is at the time! This simple concept can be applied to a residential and a commercial space – the elements to review are the same; the outcomes reflect a different purpose.

ALISON KELLER . INTERIOR DESIGNER

Alison Keller is a graduate of East Carolina University in Arts Management. Her focuses within the major included interior design, lighting and color and design, as well as management within the Arts. She also holds a graduate degree from the University of South Carolina.


Her passion for art, color, design and form and function began at a very early age. She worked with fabrics, color and fabrication from the young age of ten years old. This love of design continued throughout her life as she reimagined the use and function of spaces by recreating vibrant, contemporary spaces for young adults. Simultaneously, Alison established AKDesigns, LLC to formalize her love by helping others find joy in their spaces through the many components of interiors and design.

  • Will AKDesigns, LLC. know who to contact to get things done to achieve the vision?

    Yes. It is important have access to those contractors who are licensed, a relationship has been formed and have excellent references for their specific trade. Being sensitive to commitments and appointments when coordinating schedules is a priority.  


  • Do I have to buy all new things if I work with AKDesigns, LLC.?

    No. The first priority is to identify “special things”, including furniture, pictures, memorabilia etc. that will make “your new space, your very favorite place.”  During the creative design process, additional items that need to be purchased will shared for final approval.  


  • How long does it take?

    The time required is based on the scope of the project and each person’s comfort level to make decisions. A timeline will be created to allow for transparency and serve as a guide for everyone. 


  • How do I pay for the project?

    All products require payment in full prior to submitting an order. Custom orders may not be returned once submitted for production. 

    The majority of contractor payments will be facilitated by AKDesigns, LLC. There may be extenuating circumstances to submit payment directly to contractors which will be coordinated upon written approval.

    All payment processes and procedures will be included in the Project Proposal and will be reviewed with the client prior to receiving final project signature approval.    


HOW WE CREATE YOUR PERFECT SPACE

HOW WE WORK

1. Initial Meeting

A 1-hour meeting designed to learn about the project vision, ideas, timeframe and general budget. There is an hourly charge of $130.00/hr. for this meeting. However, if AKDesigns, LLC is selected as your designer, this charge is credited to the project budget.

2. Concept Design Phase

A conceptual design will be shared, inclusive of inspirational photos of potential schemes: (April 29, 2024)


  • an inventory of existing materials and products for reuse or purchase will be conducted;
  • a conceptual floor plan and cohesive design will be created inclusive of design components.

3. Project Schematic

  • Documentation inclusive of schematics, all design components and selections for final approval will be shared for approval.


The project will be developed in a phase approach


  • Phase 1 – wall unit, painting plan, lighting plan, 2 Stressless Chairs
  • Phase 2 – 1 sofa, accent chair, coffee/ottoman table, area rug, accessories
  • a project budget will be submitted for approval; inclusive of all quotes.

4. Design Purchasing & Installation

Once the budget and design components are approved, AKDesigns, LLC will:


  • begin design components purchasing;
  • oversee orders, deliveries, shipping and receiving, coordinate trades and execution;
  • equire a 100% payment for custom materials and 50% of labor prior to purchase of materials;
  • Any changes to the approved project design will require a change order and a 25% change order fee. All products will be purchased and delivered AKDesigns, LLC or client based on schedule, availability to receive items;
  • coordinate and oversee project installation;
  • identify and coordinate required trades for the project.


5. Project Oversite

Project site visits will be made to answer and/or clarify questions. This time will allow for project progress to be seen and connect with the client. AKDesigns, LLC is committed to being available at all times to ensure the project experience is positive and challenges are minimal.

6: Project Fees

All design choices and concepts will be explored, researched, reviewed with the client at an hourly rate of $130.00/hour. No purchases or work will begin until deposits and payments are made as outlined in the proposed budget.


  • All items to be purchased will be detailed in an estimate and will require a signed authorization;


  • All fees are calculated without regard for shipping, handling, applicable tax, delivery, and/or storage charges;


  • If you, independently of AKDesigns, LLC., purchase furniture, furnishings, materials or services, based on the design developed and prepared by AKDesigns, LLC. under this agreement, and have already asked AKDesigns, LLC to search for said items on your behalf, you agree to pay AKDesigns, LLC for the time spent researching or shopping for such items at the hourly rate of $130.00;


  • The price for each item shall be the normal wholesale or cost price to the interior designer from our vendors plus a 35% mark-up, representing a price that is always less than MSRP;


  • AKDesigns, LLC. will send out a project update and billing, no more than twice a month, as the project progresses. All payments are to be made to AKDesigns, LLC in the form of a check, cash or direct Square payments (Square payments require a 3% service fee that is charged by the vendor).
